ACP History

ACP Computer Training and Consultancy was founded in 1997 by Managing Director Alan Poh in response to the Singapore Government’s first Masterplan for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Education. With a dearth of full-fledged ICT solutions providers in Singapore, Alan set out to make ACP a shining example.

ACP stands for Advent Cybernautics Professionals. The term “cybernautics” was coined by our founder, referring to the navigation of our increasingly wired world. The name has a progressive ring, with an emphasis on the future. Today the company is simply referred to as ACP and is synonymous with quality ICT solutions and education.

Set up the same year as the Asian financial crisis, ACP’s staying power is a testament to its robust products and services, and strong corporate culture. ACP also weathered the dot-com bust and was not deterred by post-September 11 cuts in government spending. However, it was the 2003 SARS crisis that almost led to the collapse of ACP due to school closures and holds on company training. Bouncing back with even more service offerings, ACP has seen unprecedented growth since 2004. The ACP Group now employs over 120 staff, and has expanded its services to the region.

ACP provides ICT solutions and education to over 10,000 individuals of corporate entities, 50,000 students, and work on a myriad of projects and solutions by government tenders. Among them include the provision of ICT solutions for the Singapore Ministry of Education-iDA Future Schools @ Singapore project, and the contract to design, develop and maintain government school websites. Underscoring its commitment to education, ACP participated in the Singapore Learning Festival from 2001 to 2004. Confidence in the company is boosted by accreditations through partnerships with Microsoft, Adobe, Certiport and Cambridge University. ACP is an authorized Moodle partner in the region.

As a testament to our operational excellence, ACP was awarded  the ISO 9001:2008 certification in 2009. We are the first small-medium enterprise provider in corporate training, curriculum-based education and ICT solutions to obtain the ISO 9001:2008 award.
